Starbucks
Starbucks is the largest multinational coffee shop in the world. It operates a total of 23,187 stores in 64 countries. There are 12,973 in the United States, 1,897 in the People's Republic of China, 1,550 in Canada, 1,088 in Japan, 927 in the United Kingdom, 720 in the Republic of Korea, 356 in Mexico, and 276 in Taiwan. The first Starbucks stores opened in 1971 in Seattle, Washington, with partners Jerry Baldwin, Gordon Bokker, and Jib Segle. It was a retail store that sold coffee beans. In 1987, it was acquired by Howard Schultz and was reborn as a coffee shop. Starbucks has grown rapidly since then, opening up new kiosks every weekday in the 1990s, and this rate was maintained until the 2000s. The first store opened in the mid-1990s, with the exception of North America, and now overseas stores account for about a third of all stores.
