Tensors are concepts that are used somewhat differently in mathematics and physics. In the field of mathematical multiple linear algebra and differential geometry, tensor is simply a polynomial function. The tensor field refers to one of the above-mentioned tensors attached to each point of a geometric space. In physics and engineering, a tensor field is often referred to simply as a 'tensor'.
