British films
The British film industry has repeated boom and recession. It was good in the 1910s, but in the 1920s it was pushed to American movies. By 1927 the legislation enacted by the British Parliament enabled the film industry to become active, and by 1936 192 works were produced, the greatest in British film history. However, due to sudden developments, it is in recession again during the Second World War. After the war, the movie industry is recovering and entering a long stabilization period. However, in the mid 1970s, it was in recession again. In 1981, only 24 movies were produced in the UK. It has stabilized again since the 1990s. The history of the UK film industry is complex and involves a variety of cultural factors.
