Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (English: Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) is a serious disease caused by the HIV virus (English: Human Immunodeficiency Virus). AIDS is caused by HIV virus that attacks and destroys the immune system. An individual gets AIDS when the HIV virus destroys the body's defense system. Defective body defense systems make individuals easily infected with bacteria and other viruses that can cause severe illness.
