Diva

Diva

Diva is a term that refers to female opera singers, especially the soprano, but now the term is also referred to female entertainers not from the opera genre such as international famous singer Celine Dion. This term is actually referring to the entertainers who have a very talented talent that is also considered to be difficult to obtain for an era or genre. "Diva" is taken from an old Italian language meaning "god of women" which is also taken from the Latin divine word "divus" which means "the best woman". "Diva" is also used to refer to the negative attitude of an arrogant female singer, hard to collaborate, too expensive or too much to ask for something unnecessary. TIME magazine, on October 21, 2002 issue, wrote: "In terms of definition, a diva, originally referring to a famous female singer, is often referred to soprano singers." The use of "diva", though widely used now to other genres, is still closely related to classical music.
