WHAT DOES DUGONG MEAN IN MALAY?
Dugong
Dugong or dugung is a marine animal that is one of four surviving Sirenia species besides the manatee. It is the only animal representing the Dugongidae family. It is also the only siren that can be found in the waters of at least 37 countries in the Indo-Pacific region, although most live in Australia's northern waters. Dugong is the only herbivorous marine mammal, as all manatee species use fresh water to a certain extent. Dugong relies heavily on seaweed as a source of food, so its distribution is limited to the coastal habitat where it is grown, with the main focus of dugong commonly in wide, shallow and protected areas such as the bay and mangroves. Its nozzle down the magi allows it to seize the seagrass. Dugong was hunted for thousands of years for its meat and oil. The distribution area during dugong is decreasing, and its population is increasingly approaching extinction. The IUCN lists dugongs as endangered species, while CITES restricts or prohibits the trade of populated-based products.
Definition of dugong in the Malay dictionary
dugong marine marine mammals that look like small whales and have fins, Dugong dugon, mermaid.
