ERA FM is a Malaysian radio station with a total of 4.8 million listeners in 2012. This radio station was once the number 1 radio station in Malaysia until 2008, but in 2012, ERA FM became the number 1 radio station in Malaysia with nearly 5 million listeners . The radio station number 1 before 2012 was held by Hot FM and Sinar FM. ERA is a radio station owned by Astro Radio Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Astro All Asia Networks is launched from Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur. Among the slots which have a high number of listeners are the ERA and Morning Chart in ERA. ERA fm began officially on 1 August 1998, after a two-month trial release, beginning in June of the same year. This radio station uses the original frequency of the Classic Rock radio station, which appeared on the Malaysian FM wave in February 1997 after previously being one of the only sound channels in Astro. The radio station continues on ASTRO, after the FM slot is replaced by ERA fm. This radio station is the first private radio station broadcasting in Malay, as well as the first radio station using digital technology.
