Genus

Genus

In biology, the genus is a group in the classification of living organisms that have more than one species that are similar in terms of morphology. In the regular binomial nomenclature, the name of the organism is composed of its genus and species specifiers. For example Homo sapiens, the name for a human species belonging to the genus Homo. See scientific classification for details of this system. Type genus "Type Genus" for taxon is the first genus to be named and depicted. Family and, in plants, all taxa up to the biological division are named according to genus type. The genus and taxa are represented by specimens that exhibit the specific characteristics of the genus. Specimens used for this species are stored as holotype in the zoological museum or herbarium for further investigation. The genus name in a universe can be the same as the genus or other taxon name in another world. For example, Anura is a genus of plants and also a frog rule; Aotus is a nut and a monkey.
