Chloride
Chloride ions are formed when chlorine atoms receive an electron to form an anion, Cl-. Something chloride is a type of salt hydrochloric acid, HCl. One example is the fine salt, ie sodium chloride, NaCl. In NaCl water dissolves into Na + and Cl- ions. Chlorides also refer to chemical compounds that have two or more chlorine atoms covalently bonded in their molecules. This means that chloride is an organic or inorganic compound. Examples of chloride bonded in the simplest covalent inorganic form are hydrogen chloride, HCl. Examples of organic covalent chloride are chloromethane, CH3Cl, or methyl chloride. Examples of inorganic covalent chloride used as reaction substances are: ▪ phosphorus trichloride, phosphorus pentachloride, and chloroethyl chloride, which are the chlorinated test material used in laboratories. ▪ Dichloride disulfur used for rubber vulcanization ....
