The compass or compass of the sailor is a navigational aid tool to get the real direction on earth. Kompas is the most appropriate tool for demonstrating directions on earth. The historian found that the compass was originally created by China in the 11th century and only used by European sailors in 1300 AD. The compass contains arrows made of magnetic needle that is magnetically based on the earth's magnetic field. The four main directions of the compass are North, South, East and West. Technically, the compass is made of a needle to indicate the north direction of the magnet based on a magnetosphere planet. The free mustache will individually show the North direction and the map must be coordinated with the compass. In addition to sailors' compasses, other compasses are the burst compass and compass of the astral to determine the true north. The compass of the Qibla is modified to point towards Makkah.

Kompas atau kompas pelaut ialah alat bantuan ahli pelayaran untuk mendapatkan arah sebenar di muka bumi. Kompas adalah alat paling tepat untuk memunjukkan arah di muka bumi. Sejarawan mendapati kompas mula dicipta oleh China pada abad ke-11 dan hanya digunakan oleh ahli pelayaran Eropah pada 1300 Masihi. Kompas mengandungi anak panah yang dibuat daripada jarum besi bermagnet yang berdasarkan medan magnet di bumi. Empat arah utama kompas ialah Utara, Selatan, Timur dan Barat. Secara teknik, kompas dibuat daripada sebatang jarum untuk menunjukkan arah utara magnet berdasarkan sebuah planet magnetosfera. Jarum yang bebas akan dengan sendiri menunjukkan arah Utara dan peta mestilah dikoordinasikan dengan kompas tersebut. Selain kompas pelaut, kompas lain ialah kompas gegasing dan kompas falak untuk menentukan utara benar. Kompas kiblat pula diubahsuai untuk menunjuk ke arah Makkah.
