Lotud

Lotud is one of the ethnic groups living in Sabah, East Malaysia on the island of Borneo. They live mainly in the areas of Tuaran and Telipok in the West Coast Division of Sabah. Their population is estimated at 5,000 in 1985 but is now believed to have been more than 20,000. They are sub-ethnic groups of Dusun, also known as Kadazan-Dusun. The Dusun family is one of the branches of the Malay-Polynesian language, which is the Austronesian branch of the language. Almost all of these tribes embrace Catholic religion and some evangelical Christianity, with fewer animism practicing. Lotud merupakan salah satu kumpulan etnik yang tinggal di Sabah, Malaysia Timur di pulau Borneo. Mereka tinggal terutamanya di daerah Tuaran dan Telipok di Bahagian Pantai Barat Sabah. Penduduk mereka dianggarkan sebanyak 5,000 pada tahun 1985 tetapi kini dipercayai telah menjadi lebih daripada 20,000. Mereka merupakan kumpulan sub-etnik Dusun, juga dikenali sebagai Kadazan-Dusun. Keluarga bahasa Dusun merupakan salah satu cabang bahasa Melayu-Polinesia, yang merupakan cabang bahasa Austronesia. Hampir semua suku kaum ini menganut agama Katolik dan beberapa agama Kristian evangelis, dengan bilangan yang sedikit masih mengamalkan animisme.
