Rap

Rap

Rap is one of the four elements of Hip-hop culture. Rap is a vowel technique that speaks quickly, while the perpetrator is called rapper. Usually, rap is accompanied by a DJ and a band. But rap can be traced back to African roots. Centuries before Hip-Hop music exists, West Africa has given a rhythmic story called griots, more than drums and rare instruments. The connection has been recognized by today's artists. Usually, rapper like a regular singer, sing solo. Examples are KRS-One, Nas, Jay-Z and Kanye West. There is also a rapper who is a band member, for example Mike Shinoda from Linkin Park. Rapper is often called MC or Emcee. And in Jamaica's own rapper term can be called Dee-Jay like Sean Paul.
