Socioeconomics
Socioeconomics is a study of the relationship between economic activity and social life. This department is often regarded as a variety of disciplines, using theories and methods of sociology, economics, history, psychology, and many others. It has emerged as a separate study area in the late twentieth century. In many cases, however, socioeconomic experts focus on the social impacts of some kind of economic change. Such changes may include closing the plant, market manipulation, signing international trade agreements, new natural gas controls, etc. Such social consequences can be broad-based in size, from the local impact on a small society to a change in the whole society. Examples of socioeconomic effects include new technologies such as cars or mobile phones, changes to laws, changes in physical realms, and ecological changes. This can affect the pattern of consumption, the distribution of income and wealth, the ways in which people behave, and the overall quality of life.
