Bobr - urban type settlement in Belarus in the Minsk region in the Krowski region, 1.1 thousand. The population is 120 km northeast of Minsk. Bobr is located 10 km from Krupek and 2 km from Bobr Railway Station on the Minsk-Orsza Line. The town is dominated by light industry, wooden and food industry. The first mention of Bobra dates back to the early 16th century. In 1559, the town belonged to the Chodkiewicz family, later passed into the hands of Paco, Komarów, Sapieha and Ogiński. In 1762, the town received city rights and its own coat of arms. In 1863 Bobr counted 1,100. In 1969 over 3 thousand. In 1938 the town formally became a village, and since 1941 it has been an urban settlement. The most famous inhabitants of Bobra are Belarusian painter and oppositionist Aleś Pushkin. Footnotes ...
