Croissant

Croissant - Croissant cakes, traditionally without filling. The first official recipe for croissants comes from 1839 and is associated with the person August Zang, owner of the Vienna bakery at rue de Richelieu in Paris. There are several versions of different legends about these croissants. According to some accounts, the croissants were invented shortly after the siege of Vienna in 1683. It is said that the Polish nobleman, spy and diplomat Jerzy Franciszek Kulczycki, the owner of the café "Zur blauben Flasche", persuaded the owner of a nearby bakery, Peter Wendel, to start baking croissants to commemorate the victory over the Turkish troops. Croissant – pieczywo z ciasta francuskiego w kształcie rogalika, tradycyjnie bez nadzienia. Podobno to polski szlachcic, szpieg i dyplomata Jerzy Franciszek Kulczycki, właściciel kawiarni "Zur blauben Flasche", namówił właściciela pobliskiej piekarni, Petera Wendela, by zaczął wypiekać bułeczki w kształcie półksiężyca, aby upamiętnić zwycięstwo nad tureckimi wojskami.
