Czestochowa
Częstochowa is a town in the southern part of Poland, the seat of the Częstochowa district. In the years 1975-1998 was the capital of Częstochowa voivodship. After the administrative reform in 1999 it was incorporated into the Silesian province. Czestochowa is located on the Warta River, in three physiogeographic mesoregions, belonging to the Cracow-Czestochowa Upland and the Woźnicko-Wieluń Upland, historically in Małopolska. It is the 12th largest city in Poland in terms of occupied area and 13th in terms of population. According to data from September 30, 2014, the city had 231,115 inhabitants. Stara Czestochowa, now a part of Czestochowa, was the royal city of the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland. Czestochowa is the central city of the Czestochowa agglomeration and the largest economic, cultural and administrative center in the northern subregion of Silesian province. The town of Jasna Góra is home to the Jasna Gora Basilica and the Monastery of Jasna Gora, considered by some Christians as a wonderful image of Our Lady of Czestochowa - the main center of Marian devotion and pilgrimage in Poland.
