WHAT DOES GAL MEAN IN POLISH?

Gal

Gal - chemical element of the block of the periodic system, atomic number 31. It is easily melt, silvery-white, soft metal. Melted already at 29.76 ° C and held in the hand turns into liquid. It is also brittle - gallium samples are easy to break, and the resulting fragments are then broken like glass breaks. It occurs in trace amounts in a box, kaolinite and zinc ore. On an industrial scale it is obtained from bauxite. Interestingly, its low melting point and high boiling point make it suitable for use in the manufacture of high temperature thermometers. Gallium and indium gallium alloys have an even lower melting point. Unlike mercury, gal and its compounds are not poisonous. The commonly used gallium compound is gallium arsenide, a semiconductor, having many uses. There are two stable gallium isotopes with atomic masses 69 and 71. There are also dozens of radioactive isotopes with short half-life.

Gal – pierwiastek chemiczny z bloku p układu okresowego, o liczbie atomowej 31. Jest łatwo topliwym, srebrzystobiałym, miękkim metalem. Topi się już w temperaturze 29,76 °C i trzymany w dłoni zamienia się w ciecz. Jest również kruchy - próbki galu łatwo stłuc, a powstające odłamki mają wtedy przełam podobny do przełamu szkła. Występuje w ilościach śladowych w boksycie, kaolinicie i rudach cynku. Na skalę przemysłową uzyskuje się go z boksytu. Ciekawą własnością galu jest jego niska temperatura topnienia i wysoka temperatura wrzenia, dzięki czemu stosuje się go przy produkcji termometrów wysokotemperaturowych. Stopy galu z indem i cyną mają jeszcze niższą temperaturę topnienia. W przeciwieństwie do rtęci, gal i jego związki nie są trujące. Powszechnie wykorzystywanym związkiem galu jest arsenek galu, będący półprzewodnikiem, mającym wiele zastosowań. Istnieją dwa trwałe izotopy galu o masach atomowych 69 i 71. Znane są także dziesiątki izotopów radioaktywnych, o krótkich czasach połowicznego rozpadu.
