Greece, the Hellenic Republic - a country located in south-eastern Europe, on the southern tip of the Balkan Peninsula. It borders with four states, Albania, Macedonia and Bulgaria to the north, and Turkey to the east. It has access to four seas: Aegean and Cretan from the east, Ionian from the west and the Mediterranean from the south. Greece has the world's tenth coastline of 14880 km. Outside the continental part of Greece there are about 2500 islands, including 165 inhabited. The most important are Crete, Dodecanese, Cyclades, and Ionian Islands. The highest peak is 2917 m high. Olympus. Greece has a long history and rich cultural heritage. He is considered the heir of ancient Greece. As such, it is the cradle of the entire Western civilization, the birthplace of democracy, philosophy, the Olympic Games, many fundamental theorems, Western literature, historiography, political science and theater, both comedy and drama. The certificate of this heritage is 17 UNESCO Heritage Sites. Grecja, Republika Grecka – kraj położony w południowo-wschodniej części Europy, na południowym krańcu Półwyspu Bałkańskiego. Graniczy z czterema państwami, Albanią, Republiką Macedonii i Bułgarią od północy, oraz Turcją od wschodu. Ma dostęp do czterech mórz: Egejskiego i Kreteńskiego od wschodu, Jońskiego od zachodu oraz Śródziemnego od południa. Grecja ma dziesiątą pod względem długości linię brzegową na świecie, o długości 14880 km. Poza częścią kontynentalną, w skład Grecji wchodzi około 2500 wysp, w tym 165 zamieszkałych. Najważniejsze to Kreta, Dodekanez, Cyklady, i Wyspy Jońskie. Najwyższym szczytem jest wysoki na 2917 m n.p.m. Olimp. Grecja ma długą historię i bogate dziedzictwo kulturowe. Uważana jest za spadkobierczynię starożytnej Grecji. Jako taka, stanowi kolebkę całej cywilizacji zachodniej, miejsce narodzin demokracji, filozofii, Igrzysk Olimpijskich, wielu podstawowych twierdzeń naukowych, zachodniej literatury, historiografii, politologii oraz teatru, zarówno komedii, jak i dramatu. Świadectwo tej spuścizny stanowi 17 Obiektów Dziedzictwa Kulturowego UNESCO.
