Hekla

Hekla

Hekla is a volcano in southwestern Iceland, located 115 km east of the capital city of Reykjavík. The highest active volcanic island, also belongs to the most active. Hekla is a stratovolcano that was created as a result of linear erosion from several slit craters spread over several kilometers. During the eruption, the volcano throws large amounts of volcanic products: bombs, ashes, gases and lava. Therefore, it belongs to the volcanic eruptions of the Vesuvius type. The major eruptions in prehistoric times are: 6600 p.n.e., 4000 p.n.e., 2800 p.n.e. and about 860 n.e. In historical times, Hekli outbreaks occurred in 1104, 1158, 1206, 1222, 1300, 1341, 1389, about 1440, 1510, 1597, 1636, 1693, 1766, 1845, 1878, 1947-48, 1970, 1991 and 2000. Hekli's eruption was immortalized on Iceland's map of Theatrum Orbis Terrarum by Abraham Ortelius. Erupts are usually accompanied by light earthquakes and torrents of melting ice. jökulhlaupy. Hekla mainly produces dacs and basalt andeas. Dlatego zalicza się go do wulkanów eksplozywno-efuzywnych typu wezuwiańskiego. Ważniejsze erupcje w czasach przedhistorycznych to: 6600 p.n.e., 4000 p.n.e., 2800 p.n.e. oraz ok. 860 r. n.e. W czasach historycznych odnotowano wybuchy Hekli w latach: 1104, 1158, 1206, 1222, 1300, 1341, 1389, ok. 1440, 1510, 1597, 1636, 1693, 1766, 1845, 1878, 1947-48, 1970, 1991 i 2000. Erupcja Hekli została uwieczniona na mapie Islandii z Theatrum Orbis Terrarum Abrahama Orteliusa. Erupcjom towarzyszą najczęściej lekkie trzęsienia ziemi oraz spływy gwałtownie topniejących lodów tzw. jökulhlaupy. Hekla produkuje głównie dacyty oraz andezyty bazaltowe.
