PRONUNCIATION OF INTERFERON IN POLISH

interferon

WHAT DOES INTERFERON MEAN IN POLISH?

interferon

Interferon - the generic name of the protein produced and released by body cells as a response to pathogens inside the body. Interferons provide communication between body cells to fight off pathogens by launching defense mechanisms of the immune system. Interferons belong to a large group of cytokines belonging to glycoproteins. Interferons owe their name to interference, into the process of replicating viruses within the body's cells. These proteins also have other functions: ▪ activate immune cells ▪ increase the rate of infection detection by regulating antigen presentation by T cells ▪ enhance the resistance of healthy cells to virus infection ▪ inhibit the proliferation of viruses by inhibiting the synthesis of their proteins Some symptoms such as muscle aches or fever , are caused by the production of interferons during infection. So far, 10 types of interferon have been found in mammals, 7 of them in humans. Interferons are divided into 3 groups: Type I, II and III.
