Caleb - biblical figure from the Old Testament, son of Jephunne, father of Ira, Eli, Naam and Aksy. He was a Kenyan or Edomite assimilated to the Israelites, or, more precisely, to the tribe of Judah, Kenase's older brother, Jephunneh's son. The only man who was over twenty years old except Joshua, who did not commit adultery to God during his 40-year journey to Canaan. The prize was the entrance to the Promised Land and the allocation of Hebron's heritage. He lived probably in the 13th-12th century BC. The Bible gives no information about his death. According to Jewish tradition, he died in the city of Joshua Timnat-Serach. Caleb's family comes from the Kalebit family.

Był Kenizytą albo Edomitą zasymilowanym z Izraelitami, a ściślej – z pokoleniem Judy, starszy brat Kenaza, syn Jefunnego. Jedyny człowiek w wieku powyżej dwudziestu lat oprócz Jozuego, który w czasie czterdziestoletniej wędrówki do Kanaanu ani razu nie sprzeniewierzył się Bogu. Nagrodą za to był wstęp do Ziemi Obiecanej i przydział okolic Hebronu w dziedzictwo. Żył prawdopodobnie w XIII-XII wieku p.n.e. Biblia nie podaje żadnych informacji o jego śmierci. Według tradycji żydowskiej umarł w mieście Jozuego Timnat-Serach. Od Kaleba pochodzi ród Kalebitów.
