ketonemia

Ketonemia

Ketonemia - the medical term for elevated levels of ketones in serum. In cases where the level of keto acids causes the development of acidosis - we speak of ketoacidosis or ketosis. This situation is most likely to occur in the case of decompensated diabetes and is considered one of its acute complications due to insulin deficiency. Ketones are secreted by the kidneys and the state in which they appear in the urine is called ketonuria. Another way to remove them from the body is excretion with exhaled air.
