xenobiotic
Xenobiotics - a chemical that occurs in an organism that neither produces it nor in normal conditions does not accept it with food. In other words, it is a chemical that is not a natural component of a living organism. Other names are: exogenous or exogenous substance, anthropogenic material. This definition includes substances foreign to the target organism. Most poisons and medicines are identified. An important group of xenobiotics are chemical compounds obtained by humans, with a non-natural chemical structure, to which organisms did not adapt through previous evolution. Examples: ▪ drugs ▪ very active agents Most xenobiotics undergo biotransformation in humans, except for strongly polar or volatile compounds such as ethyl ether. Transformations of xenobiotics can be divided into two general phases: ▪ phase I - oxidation, reduction, hydrolysis ▪ phase II - coupling reaction ...
