WHAT DOES LAKTOTROPINA MEAN IN POLISH?

Prolactin (PRL) - a peptide hormone made up of 198 amino acids (human), with a molecular weight of 23 kDa. It has similar metabolic effects, chemical structure and active center for somatropin. Prolactin binds zinc, which probably increases the stability of the molecule. It stimulates the growth of mammary glands during pregnancy and induces lactation. It also affects the gonads, lymphoid cells and liver - these organs have specific receptors. In breast-feeding women, prolactin inhibits the secretion of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH), blocking ovulation and menstruation, especially in the first months after birth. Prolactin is mainly produced in the pituitary gland by lactotrophs. This is the second type of eosinophilic cell, also referred to as ε, and in pregnant women and lactating η, which account for about 20% of the frontal lobe of the pituitary gland. Their shape is granular and contains numerous irregular grains of size from 400 to 700 nm. These hormones are released from the grains.
