Lykeion, lykejon, likejon - philosophical school founded by student Plato - Aristotle in the fourth century BC. From V in v. P.n.e. There was a gymnasium at the temple of Apollina Likejos in the eastern outskirts of Athens, in the gardens called Lykejon, after the god of the gods. At the gymnasium Aristotle founded his own school. It was probably due to conflicts over the leadership of the Academy in 355 BC when Aristotle returned to Athens. The school was also called Peripatetic, since there was a habit of strolling through lectures there. Aristotle made it a team institute and planned research in the field of humanities and natural sciences. Representatives of the school include: Teofrast of Eresos, Eudemos, Aristocosos and Dikajarch. The high school has always had a different profile than the Academy - it focused on specific sciences, not on deductive ones. The word "high school" comes from the Latin form of the word.

Lykeion, lykejon, likejon – szkoła filozoficzna założona przez ucznia Platona – Arystotelesa w IV wieku p.n.e. Od V w. p.n.e. nad Ilissosem przy świątyni Apollina Likejosa na wschodnich obrzeżach Aten istniał gimnazjon – w ogrodach zwanych Lykejonem od imienia patronującego świątyni boga. Przy gimnazjonie tym Arystoteles założył własną szkołę. Powstała ona prawdopodobnie na skutek konfliktów o objęcie kierownictwa Akademii w 355 p.n.e., gdy Arystoteles powrócił do Aten. Szkołę nazywano też perypatetycką, od mającego tam panować zwyczaju przechadzania się w czasie wykładów. Arystoteles uczynił ją instytutem zespołowych i planowych badań naukowych w dziedzinie humanistyki i przyrodoznawstwa. Do przedstawicieli szkoły należą m.in. Teofrast z Eresos, Eudemos, Arystoksenos i Dikajarch. Liceum zawsze miało inny profil niż Akademia – koncentrowano się w niej na naukach szczegółowych, nie na dedukcyjnych. Od łacińskiej formy słowa pochodzi współczesne słowo „liceum”.
