Neolamotry - one of the directions of evolutionism, opposed to Darwinism, negating or limiting the importance of natural selection in the evolution of organisms. From the classical lamotricum, he took the thesis of the inheritance of acquired qualities, and limited knowledge of the factors and mechanisms of evolution to explain the causes of hereditary variability. Nägeli, who published his views in 1864 in the work entitled " Mechanical-physiological theory of evolution (Mechnisch-physiologische Theorie der Abstammungslehre). Nägeli retained the typical duality of evolutionary mechanisms for plants and animals with nervous system. Plants adapt to the environment under the influence of external stimuli, eg the tubes of their flowers are elongated by the irritation of them by insects trying to get into the interior. Animals use their senses and in general they (in contrast to plants) can find color and shape adaptation (protective coloration) resulting from the desire to hide. The acquired properties are inherited.

Neolamarkizm – jeden z kierunków ewolucjonizmu, przeciwstawiający się darwinizmowi, negując bądź ograniczając znaczenie doboru naturalnego w procesie ewolucji organizmów. Od klasycznego lamarkizmu przejął tezę o dziedziczeniu cech nabytych, a poznanie czynników i mechanizmów ewolucji ograniczył do wyjaśnienia przyczyn dziedzicznej zmienności. Za twórcę neolamarkizmu uznaje się Nägeliego, który swoje poglądy opublikował w 1864 r. w dziele pt. Mechaniczno-fizjologiczna teoria ewolucji (Mechnisch-physiologische Theorie der Abstammungslehre). Nägeli zachował typową dla lamarkizmu dwoistość mechanizmów ewolucji dla roślin i zwierząt dysponujących układem nerwowym. Rośliny przystosowują się do otoczenia pod wpływem bodźców zewnętrznych np. rurki ich kwiatów wydłużają się pod wpływem drażnienia ich przez owady usiłujące się dostać do wnętrza. Zwierzęta korzystają ze zmysłów i u nich powszechnie (w przeciwieństwie do roślin) można znaleźć przystosowania barwy i kształtu (ubarwienie ochronne) wynikające z chęci ukrycia się. Nabyte właściwości podlegają dziedziczeniu.
