Osmoreceptor

Osmoreceptor

Osmoreceptor - a receptor sensitive to the change in osmotic pressure in the body that is located in the hypothalamus. The increase in osmotic pressure in body fluids triggers the osmoreceptors, resulting in the release of thirst and the increased secretion of the vasopressin hormone, which contributes to increased reabsorption of renal tubular water, preventing excessive excretion of urine.
