Parsuna

Parsuna - the name of secular portraits painted in Russia from the end of the 16th to the first half. The 19th century Parsuns originated from iconic painting, using its schematic representations and techniques. In the seventeenth century more realistic shots of the character and background appeared, which was connected with the influence of the Republic of Poland on the patterns of the Sarmatian portrait. Initially, parsuns represented mostly rulers and representatives of the Russian aristocracy. An important center of this type of painting was Orużenaja Palata. In the 18th century, parsun painting became the domain of provincial icon painters, performing portraits on request. The longest parsuns enjoyed the Russian merchants, who until the first half. In the nineteenth century, they were most often portrayed in a manner characteristic of parsunal painting. Parsuna – nazwa portretów świeckich malowanych w Rosji od końca XVI do I poł. XIX w.
