Solid - gold coin of the Roman. Introduced around 308 by Roman emperor Constantine I. Weighed 3.89 grams and corresponded to 1/72 pound gold. Beaten in the Roman Empire, and later in his followers of the Byzantine empire. By the end of the 10th century, solid was the main trade coin of Byzantium, commonly referred to as the nomogram. Also known in the wider circulation as a byzantine, this coin was one of the most important means of payment in Europe and the Mediterranean until the mid-eleventh century. First it replaced the valuable gold histamenon, and then carried out by the emperor Alexey I Komnen monetary reform introduced the hyperpyron as the most important commercial coin of Byzantium. From the name of solidus come many later names of money: sou, soldo, shilling, scarlet. From this name also comes the words: soldier, soldier, soldado, солдат, etc. ↑ Soldier. Solid – złota moneta rzymska. Wprowadzona ok. 308 roku przez cesarza rzymskiego Konstantyna I. Ważyła 3,89 grama i odpowiadała 1/72 funta złota. Bita w cesarstwie rzymskim, a później w kontynuującym jego tradycje cesarstwie bizantyjskim. Do końca X wieku solid był główną monetą handlową Bizancjum, powszechnie nazywany tam nomisma. Znana też w szerszym obiegu jako bizant, moneta ta należała do najważniejszych środków płatniczych Europy i krajów Morza Śródziemnego do połowy XI wieku. Najpierw zastąpił ją wartościowszy złoty histamenon, a następnie przeprowadzona przez cesarza Aleksego I Komnena reforma monetarna wprowadziła hyperpyron jako najważniejszą monetę handlową Bizancjum. Od nazwy solidus wywodzą się liczne późniejsze nazwy pieniądza: sou, soldo, szyling, szeląg. Od nazwy tej pochodzą również słowa: żołnierz, soldier, soldado, солдат itp.
