Soliton

In mathematics and physics soliton is a self-sustaining, isolated wave caused by nonlinear effects occurring in the material in which the wave propagates. Solitons are accompanied by many physical phenomena; They also appear as solutions of nonlinear partial differential equations. The soliton phenomenon was first described by John Scott Russell, who observed a wave of soliton in the water channel, and then reproduced the phenomenon in a specially prepared water tank. The observed wave called Russell's "wave of displacement". It is difficult to define precisely what a soliton is. Drazin and Johnson have defined soliton as a solution to the nonlinear differential equations, which ▪ represents waves of invariant shape; ▪ is located so that it disappears or reaches a constant value at infinity; ▪ It can interact strongly with other solitons, but after collision it remains unchanged - only phase shift occurs. Many authors emphasize that solitons can change their shape periodically, and their distinction is the ability to collide non-destructive.
