Spina

Spina

Spina - long, low and wide wall dividing the tracks in the Roman circus. Around him were chariot races. The appearance of the wall described on the basis of the mosaic of Barcelona was as follows: on the foundations were the altars of deities, statues, small cult or decorative buildings. On both sides of the wall were placed three to three massive posts. Seven items were placed on the spin, seven eggs on one side, and seven dolphins on the other. Eggs and dolphins were in Greek and Roman mythology the symbols of the Dioskur, the sons of Zeus and Leda. These items were removed at each subsequent lap to control the number of laps. Remains of the wall are preserved in the Cartagena circus. Spina – długi, niski i szeroki mur rozdzielający tory w cyrku rzymskim. Jajo i delfin były w mitologii greckiej i rzymskiej symbolami Dioskurów, synów Zeusa i Ledy.
