Syncytium

Syncytium, or syndrome, is a multi-nuclear cell formed by the merging of single-celled mononuclear cells. Syncytia occurs, among others. The flatworms - gut, gills and tapeworms. On their surface there is a glycocalin. Protects the parasites from digestion by the digestive enzymes of the host organism. Syncytia also forms muscle cells transversely striated in vertebrates. Syncytium, inaczej zespólnia, tegument – wielojądrowa komórka powstała poprzez połączenie się luźnych pojedynczych komórek jednojądrowych. Syncytia występują m.in. u płazińców – przywr, skrzelowców i tasiemców. Na ich powierzchni znajduje się glikokaliks. Chroni pasożyty przed strawieniem przez enzymy trawienne organizmu żywiciela. Syncytia tworzą także komórki mięśni poprzecznie prążkowanych u kręgowców.
