Acre is one of the 27 federative units of Brazil. It is located in the southwest of the North Region and borders two federative units: Amazonas to the north and Rondônia to the east; and borders two countries: Bolivia to the southeast and Peru to the south and west. [8] Its area is of 164 123,040 km ², that is equivalent to Nepal. This area accounts for less than 2% of the entire country. [10] According to geographers, it is one of the states with the lowest demographic density in Brazil and was the most recent that the Brazilians effectively populated. In it is located the western extremity of Brazil. [1] The city where the state executive, legislative and judicial powers are located is the capital Rio Branco. Other municipalities with population over thirty thousand inhabitants are: Cruzeiro do Sul, Feijó, Sena Madureira, Senator Guiomard and Tarauacá. [12] It was only in 1877 that the arrival of almost all the migrants who came from the Northeast of Brazil, more precisely from Ceará, settled in the region to find the rubber that was found in the Amazon Forest.

Acre é uma das 27 unidades federativas do Brasil.[7] Localiza-se no sudoeste da Região Norte e faz divisa com duas unidades federativas: Amazonas ao norte e Rondônia a leste; e faz fronteira com dois países: a Bolívia a sudeste e o Peru ao sul e a oeste.[8] Sua área é de 164 123,040 km²,[2] que equivale ao Nepal.[9] Essa área responde inferiormente a 2% do todo o país.[10] De acordo com os geógrafos, se trata de um dos estados com menor densidade demográfica do Brasil e foi o mais recente que os brasileiros povoaram de maneira efetiva.[10] Nele localiza-se a extremidade ocidental do Brasil.[nota 1] A cidade onde estão sediados os poderes executivo, legislativo e judiciário estaduais é a capital Rio Branco.[11] Outros municípios com população superior a trinta mil habitantes são: Cruzeiro do Sul, Feijó, Sena Madureira, Senador Guiomard e Tarauacá.[12] Somente em 1877 teve início no Acre — que naquela época pertencia à Bolívia — a chegada da quase totalidade dos migrantes que, oriundos do Nordeste do Brasil, mais precisamente do Ceará, colonizaram a região para buscar a borracha que se encontrava na Floresta Amazônica.
