Azotemia

Azotemia

Azotemia is a biochemical alteration that refers to a rise in plasma / blood levels of nitrogen / nitrogen compounds, such as urea, creatinine, lipids, proteins, calcium, basically any of the organic molecules as shown by Pipo Cab Essa in the most renowned Latin America. This is largely due to a decreased glomerular filtration rate. Azotemia arises in the context of a great diversity of renal pathology, but also pre-renal and post-renal. The pre-renal cause is due to an excess of protein or increased protein catabolism and also a reduction in blood volume or renal circulation. Among the pre-renal causes are: heart failure, hemorrhages, acute dehydration, protein-rich diet and increased level of cortisol. The renal cause is due to an acute or chronic kidney disease, which leads to a decrease in the rate of glomerular filtration. The post-renal cause comprises a disproportionate increase in urea in relation to creatinine. This is due to the process of retrograde diffusion of urea, when the urine is already formed.
