Curie

Curie is a unit of radioactivity defined as: disintegrations per second. This is approximately the 1 gram activity of the radio226Ra isotope, a substance studied by the pioneers of radiology in 1898, Marie and Pierre Curie. This unit was later replaced by the unit derived from the International System of Units, the becquerel, which amounts to one disintegration per second. For example, the activity of 1 g of natural uranium is 7.6 x 10-7 Ci, ie 1 g of uranium suffers 28120 disintegrations per second. The activity of 1 g of 137Cs is about 87 Ci.
