Establishment
Establishment, in a more abstract sense, refers to the ideological, economic, and political order that constitutes a society or a state. In a derogatory sense, it designates a social, economic, and political elite that exercises strong control over society as a whole, functioning as the basis of established powers. The term extends to institutions controlled by the ruling classes, who decide or whose interests strongly influence political, economic, cultural, etc. decisions, and therefore control, in their own interest and according to their own conceptions, the main public and private organizations of a country, to the detriment of the majority of voters, consumers, small shareholders, etc. In a narrower sense, it may refer to a group of individuals with power and influence over a given organization or field of activity. The term originally concerned an alliance between the urban bourgeoisie and groups of the British rural aristocracy, which traditionally concentrated the means of action in the country, being little open to innovations in all fields and hostile to sharing power with other groups.
