Savacu

The savacu, goraz or sleeping-sickle is a ciconiiform bird of the ardeidae family, common in almost all the American continent and part of Europe. These birds measure about 60 cm in length, having both the top of the head and the back, black, gray wings, forehead, lower parts and long white nuchal feathers. They are also well-known by the names of arapapá-long-beaked, dormant, sleeper, gray heron, sleepy egret, guacuru, sabacu, savacu-de-coroa, socó, taiaçu, tajacu, taquari and taquiri. O savacu, goraz ou socó-dorminhoco é uma ave ciconiiforme da família dos ardeídeos, bastante comum em quase todo o continente americano e em parte da Europa. Tais aves medem cerca de 60 cm de comprimento, possuindo tanto o alto da cabeça quanto o dorso negros, asas cinzentas, fronte, partes inferiores e longas penas nucais brancas. Também são conhecidas pelos nomes de arapapá-de-bico-comprido, dorme-dorme, dorminhoco, garça-cinzenta, garça-dorminhoca, guacuru, sabacu, savacu-de-coroa, socó, taiaçu, tajacu, taquari e taquiri.
