Nice is a French town, located in the French department of the Alpes-Maritimes and in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Nice has 344,890 inhabitants and its metropolitan area has about 1 million inhabitants. After the Congress of Vienna, it returned to be part of the kingdom of Sardinia, one of those that formed modern Italy. It was "annexed" to France in 1860, through the Treaty of Villafranca. Some signs indicate, in addition to the French Nice form, the Nissa Provencal form. The origin of the name comes from the Greek Nikaia - victorious - and the Latin version is Nicæa.

Nice conta com 344.890 habitantes e sua área metropolitana tem cerca de 1 milhão de habitantes. Depois do Congresso de Viena, voltou a fazer parte do reino da Sardenha, um dos que formaram a Itália moderna. Foi "anexada" à França em 1860, por meio do tratado de Villafranca. Algumas placas indicam, além da forma francesa Nice, a forma provençal Nissa. A origem do nome vem do grego Nikaia - vitoriosa - e a versão latina é Nicæa.
