Pendular or Pendant in architecture is a structural and constructive element that allows the support of the circular base of a dome on a quadrangular or polygonal space. These are triangular curvilinear segments formed from the intervals between the arches and constitute the base on which the drum was placed. This is also used as a structural method that allows the conversion of an elliptical dome over a rectangular plant. The pendants are spherical triangles that have a surface delimited by three arcs of circumference. Its geometrical construction is obtained by the section of a hemisphere with the right prism whose trace defines a regular polygon inscribed in the base of the respective hemisphere, of the resulting ribs of the vaults that are defined by the base of the spherical cap tangent to the arches of the perimeter. These elements are defined by triangular or trapezoidal sections of the vaulted that provides the transition between the dome and the square base where the vault rests, transferring the weight. Prior to the adoption of pendulums, the use of corbels or horns in the corners of a compartment was frequent.

Pendículo ou Pendente em arquitetura é um elemento estrutural e construtivo que permite o suporte da base circular de uma cúpula sobre um espaço quadrangular ou poligonal. Trata-se segmentos triangulares curvilíneos formados dos intervalos entre os arcos e constituem a base sobre a qual era colocado o tambor. Este é também utilizado como método estrutural que ppermite a conversão de uma cúpula elíptica sobre uma planta rectangular. Os pendentes são triângulos esféricos que apresenta uma superfície delimitada por três arcos de circunferência. A sua construção geométrica é obtida pela secção de um hemisfério com o prisma recto cujo traço define um polígono regular inscrito na base da respectiva semiesfera, das resultantes nervurass das abóbadas que são definidas pela base da calota esférica tangente aos arcos do perímetro. Estes elementos definem-se por secções triangulares ou trapezoidais do abobadado que provê a transição entre o domo e a base quadrada onde a abóbada se apoia, transferindo o peso. Antes da adopção dos pendículos, a utilização de mísulas ou de trompas nos cantos de um compartimento era frequente.
