Ravana

Ravana, in Hinduism is the main opponent of Rama in the Hindu epic, the Ramayana. Ravana was the king of the demons, of Lanka and most powerful creature of the universe. In the classic text, he is presented in a negative way, kidnapping the wife of Rama Sita, to claim revenge on Rama and his brother Lakshmana for having cut the nose of his sister Surpanakha. Ravana is known as the most fearsome raxasa. Always malignant, cunning, and extremely powerful, he possessed ten heads and boasted of his immortality by presenting such a supernatural characteristic. The Puranic narrative says that Ravana underwent indescribable sacrifices and that he even offered his head as a sacrificial oblation to Xiva. The powerful god, in accepting such an unexpected offering, granted the raxasa ten spare heads, who considered themselves immortal, and who were nothing but incarnations of the ten vices and evil aspects disseminated by creation, such as anger, hatred, evil speech, envy, etc. To eliminate Ravana, the ten heads needed to be cut simultaneously, otherwise, just like a hydra, Ravana's heads were immediately restored.
