Rigveda

Rig Veda or Rigveda, Book of Hymns, is the First Veda and is the most important veda, since all others derived from it. Rig Veda is the oldest Veda and at the same time the oldest document of Hindu literature, composed of hymns, rituals and offerings to the deities. It has 1,028 hymns, most of which refer to offerings of sacrifices, some of which are not related to worship. Regardless of internal value, the First Veda is invaluable in antiquity. Geographical and ethnological passages in the Rigveda are evidence that the Rigveda was written around 1700-1100 BC during the Vedic period in Punjab, making it one of the oldest texts of any Indo-European languages and one of the earliest religious texts of the world.
