WHAT DOES SAPATORRA MEAN IN PORTUGUESE?

Coryphaena hippurus

Coryphaena hippurus, the scientific name of the species commonly known as Golden, male-golden, sapatorra, sea-buckthorn, duckhead, dolphin, golden-mackerel, graçapé, guaraçapé, guaraçapema, monkey or mahi mahi is a coriphidid teleost fish. It is one of only two species of his family - the other being called Coryphaena equiselis. This warm-water fish nothing near the surface in the open sea prefers blue waters and it is common to find it close to seaweed kayaks. It is yellow and green with blue and white spots. The larger male, or "bull", has a protruding forehead and weighs more than 40 kg. They can have a lifespan of about 3 to 4 years, weighing on average 7 to 13 kg, although they can grow up to 45 kg. It has a long dorsal fin, the whole length of the body. The anal fins are sharply concave. They are distinguished by their bright and tinted colors: golden on the sides, with blues and bright greens on their sides and on the back.
