Vedanga

The Vedanga are six auxiliary disciplines for the understanding and tradition of the Vedas, sacred texts of Hinduism. ▪ Shiksha: phonetics and phonology ▪ Chandas: metrics ▪ Vyakarana: grammar ▪ Nirukta: etymology ▪ Jyotisha: astrology and astronomy, dealing particularly with auspicious days for sacrifices. Kalpa: ritual The Vedangas are mentioned first in the Mundaka Upanishad as topics to be observed by students of the Vedas. Later, they developed into independent disciplines, each with its own body of Sutras. Os Vedanga são seis disciplinas auxiliares para a compreensão e tradição dos Vedas, textos sagrados do hinduísmo. ▪ Shiksha: fonética e fonologia ▪ Chandas: métrica ▪ Vyakarana: gramática ▪ Nirukta: etimologia ▪ Jyotisha: astrologia e astronomia, lidando particularmente com os dias auspiciosos para a realização de sacrifícios. ▪ Kalpa: ritual Os Vedangas são mencionados primeiro no Mundaka Upanishad como tópicos a serem observados por estudantes dos Vedas.
