c. f., pl. (royal kvasha, a., a relative of the Russian quas, quas.) From the Slavs to the south comes Hungarian kovász, t. East. A kind of sweet and sour brass that is made of buckwheat flour, millet, rye, wheat, corn, and so on. a. Boiled and fermented. (In Covasna it is made in the day of St. Andrew). cováșă f., pl. ășĭ (rut. kváša, a. î., rudă cu rus. kvas, cvas. De la Slaviĭ de sud vine ung. kovász, țaĭcă. V. covăsesc). Est. Un fel de bragă dulce și acrișoară care se face din făină de hrișcă, meĭ, secară, grîŭ, porumb ș. a. opărită și fermentată. (În Cov. se face în ziŭa de Sf. Andreĭ).
