Sauterne is a French white dessert wine produced in the region of Graves, Bordeaux. It is made from the grapes of Semillon, Sauvignon blanc and Muscadel, subjected to the natural effect of the so-called "noble mold" botrytis. This leads to partial beriaging and, as a consequence, to more concentrated wines, with a more expressive flavor. Due to its climate, Sautern is one of the wine-growing regions, where the covering of berries with noble mildew happens quite often.
