Koton is a chain of stores with more than 4,600 employees and 255 in Turkey and 107 in abroad with a total of 362 stores in 25 countries and central Istanbul. Koton, which operates in the ready-to-wear sector, was founded in 1988 by Yilmaz Yilmaz and Gülden Yilmaz couple in Istanbul. Yilmaz, whose main profession was officer and teacher, was put into commercials with a small shop in order to sell more products exported. The couple left their profession after the shop attracted great interest and started to deal with the whole store and textile. Koton started to make its own production in 1995, and opened its first overseas store in 1996 in Munich, Germany. As of 2014, there are 362 stores, 107 of which are located abroad, including Koton, Russia and Germany.

Koton, yaklaşık 4.600'den fazla çalışanı ve 255'i Türkiye'de 107'si yurt dışında olmak üzere toplam 362 mağaza ile 25 ülkede bulunan ve merkezi İstanbul olan mağazalar zinciridir. Hazır giyim sektöründe faaliyet gösteren Koton, 1988 yılında İstanbul'da Yılmaz Yılmaz ve Gülden Yılmaz çifti tarafından kuruldu. Asıl meslekleri subay ve öğretmen olan Yılmaz çifti ihraç fazlası ürünleri satmak amacıyla ufak bir dükkan ile ticarete atıldı. Çift, dükkanın büyük ilgi görmesi üzerine mesleklerinden ayrılarak tamamen mağazacılık ve tekstil ile uğraşmaya başladı. 1995 yılında kendi üretimini yapmaya başlayan Koton, ilk yurt dışı mağazasını 1996 yılında Almanya'nın Münih şehrinde açtı. 2014 yılı itibari ile 362 mağazası bulunan Koton, Rusya, Almanya başta olmak üzere mağazalarının 107'si yurt dışında bulunmaktadır.
