Sure, each of the 114 chapters in the Qur'an is one of the verses. The first surah in today's mushafs is Fatiha and the last su is Nas. The order of the surahs is made roughly from the longest to the shortest, not according to chronological or thematic integrity. Surat al-Bakara, which lasted from 286 verses for the longest time, is the last verse from Kevser, which comes from three verses. Suras outside the Sura of Rebellion begin with nursery. It is believed that the place of the surahs was appointed by the Prophet and that these Surahs were put in place in the six Mus'hafs that the third Caliph Osman wrote at the 25th year of the Hijra.

En uzun sure 286 ayetten meydana gelen Bakara Suresi, en kısa sure ise 3 ayetten meydana gelen Kevser Suresidir. Kuranda Tevbe Suresi dışındaki sureler besmeleyle başlar. Surelerin yerlerinin Peygamber tarafından tayin edildiğine ve üçüncü Halife Osman'ın, Hicret'in 25. senesinde yazdırdığı altı mus'haf'ta bu sureleri yerlerine konulduğuna inanılır.
