Slovakia (Slovak: Slovenská republika), is a landlocked country in Central Europe, an area of 49,000 square kilometers, about 5.4 million inhabitants. Northwest of the Czech Republic, north of Poland, east of Ukraine, south of Hungary, southwest of Austrian, capital and largest city for the Bratislava. Slovakia is a parliamentary democratic state, the official language is Slovak. Joined the North Atlantic Treaty Organization on March 29, 2004 and became a member of the European Union from 1 May 2004 and became a member of the Schengen Convention on 21 December 2007.
