El marcapasos es un software libre común para la administración de recursos en clústeres de alta disponibilidad basados en Linux. Gestiona la operación de los servicios de servidor en un clúster de equipos para garantizar la máxima disponibilidad, monitorea servidores y utilidades. Se distribuye como software libre también en el texto fuente, por medio del cual las bibliotecas de programas y archivos de cabecera se encuentran bajo la Licencia Pública General Menor GNU y todo lo demás bajo la GNU General Public License. Para comunicar los nodos entre sí, establezca OpenAIS o el latido del corazón desactualizado. El marcapaso admite el control de los dispositivos STONITH, que se pueden utilizar para desactivar automáticamente los nodos en caso de desconexión de la operación del clúster. El marcapasos formaba parte del proyecto Linux-HA; Es el sucesor reescrito de 2008 de Heartbeat, que se dividió en un nuevo proyecto. Fue desarrollado por los desarrolladores de SUSE, que también es el primero en proporcionar soporte técnico comercial para SUSE.
