Adhesión
Proceso de unión de una sustancia a la superficie de otra sustancia. Nota 1: La adhesión requiere energía que puede provenir de enlaces químicos y / o físicos, siendo este último reversible cuando se aplica suficiente energía. Nota 2: En biología, la adhesión refleja el comportamiento de las células poco después del contacto con la superficie. Nota 3: En la cirugía, la adhesión se usa cuando dos tejidos se fusionan inesperadamente. La adhesión es la tendencia de las partículas o superficies disímiles a adherirse entre sí. Las fuerzas que causan adhesión y cohesión se pueden dividir en varios tipos. Las fuerzas intermoleculares responsables de la función de diversos tipos de adhesivos y cinta pegajosa caen en las categorías de adhesión química, adhesión dispersiva y adhesión difusiva. Además de las magnitudes acumulativas de estas fuerzas intermoleculares, hay ciertos efectos mecánicos emergentes que también se discutirán al final del artículo.
